Pointe-Claire Village

This old haunt on Lake Shore Drive used to be the Old Pointe-Claire Hotel, a destination from over a hundred years ago where Montrealers could vacation in their own city in the exotic West Island. Later on it was a series of bars, sucvh as Le Pionnier and Clyde’s - where I tried unsuccessfully to get in with a fake ID in my teenage years. Eventually it succumbed to condo development, being destroyed in 2018. I like to remember it as it was here, circa 2016 - people on the sunny terrasse, day drinking and chain-smoking while gazing at dads showing off antique Sunday cars, suburban moms in house coats, and young girls in beachwear with the ubiquitous flip flops.
