Westmount - Don’t do me like Dorchester!
In ‘87 Montreal decided to change Dorchester Boul. (named after a British hero)to Rene Levesque Boulevard (named after a Quebecois hero). The city of Westmount resisted and retained the original name on their section of the street. These anglo aristocrats get what they want! Westmount is the area of town you go to on Halloween to get the good candy. They have their own police, fire department and government, kind of like the Vatican. Many Montrealers aspire to live in Westmount in a mansion that looks like a mini-castle, like Leonard Cohen, who earns the prized spot in the cornerbox on this one.
An art print poster on paper by illustrator Jason Wasserman. Part of the Montreal Neighbourhood Series. A deep and dirty dive into the architecture and citizens of the great city of Montreal.
This unique series of posters is executed in the artist’s signature bold black and white style. Wonderfully detailed and created from a 100% human hand-drawn illustration that you can stare at for hours, this drawing is absolutely littered with Easter eggs. Inspired by the unsung heroes of Montreal, the image is remixed through the lens of vintage comic book cover art, with a unique vocabulary of original typography and graphics.
